Meet Scott Rossi! He’s the one “Stuck in the middle”. If you’ve never heard Scott’s story, I’ve posted it below. It’s one about overcoming struggles in life by focusing on the positives. It’s about never giving up, even when the chips are down. I admire Scott. He is passionate about writing, he has a positive outlook on life and he gives a ton of support to his friends and family.
“Stuck in the middle” is a song I play at almost every event! It’s just such a fun, upbeat song. Even though I’ve heard it at least a million times it never gets old to me. I just LOVE this song.
Scott Rossi’s Story:
Years ago, a dentist placed mercury fillings in Scott’s mouth. Prior to his dental work Scott was in great health; happy, athletic, and loved life. Yet, after his visits to the dentist he slowly started to develop all kinds of strange ailments. As if increased mood changes, depression, and feeling lethargic weren’t enough, Scott began stuttering. Becoming extremely self conscious about his stuttering and overwhelmed with feelings of depression, he went into a really dark place in his life.
Finally after eight years of health issues, he heard on the radio mercury poisoning was linked to some of the same symptoms he was experiencing. Sure enough, a few months later Scott was diagnosed with mercury poisoning from the fillings in his mouth. It took three months to remove all of the poison from his body. Today, he is finally feeling back to himself again.
Why is this great story?
Well, during those eight years, instead of wasting time away feeling sorry for himself, Scott decided to put what energy he did have into his writing. He looked to his favorite author, Ernest Hemingway, for inspiration. Instead of focusing on his poor health, he focused on writing an article about Hemingway’s life.
What came out of his ability to think positively?
–In 2004 he submitted his Ernest Hemingway article to the Ernest Hemingway Society and was asked to be a speaker at their Bi-Annual Conference in Key West.
–He met John Donnelly, an extended family member of Ernest Hemingway, who was inspired by Scott’s story so much that he gave Scott first dibs to use Hemingway’s family videos for footage in a documentary- (the videos that started out on reels and then transferred to VHS then to DVD).
–He currently has an article being reviewed by American Heritage that has an extremely good chance of being published (either in print or online) – which would be a HUGE step towards getting his BOOK about Hemingway published.
What’s more?
Scott gave me a copy of Hemingway’s family videos that he received from John Donnelly!! What a gift!
