Fashion For a Cause Recap

On Thursday February 25th, Michelle Lee Entertainment and The Carol Galvin Women’s Cancer Foundation held “Fashion For a Cause” at the Stratus Rooftop Lounge on top of Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia, PA. The event was to support two women whose families are battling cancer. The event included a special guest appearance by Meredith O’Connor and fashion show featuring lines by top designers, Elizabeth Delgado of Elizabeth Delgado Desings, Bill McCall of Utopia Armoury, and Dartanya.

The event was a great success. Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support! What is the Carol Galvin Women’s Cancer Foundation?

Rick Galvin is a fire fighter in NYC and founder of the Carol Galvin Women’s Cancer Foundation. Rick currently raises money for a mother with cancer in NYC. His mother actually died from cancer when he was 11. This is why he started the foundation.

Why did we have this event?

As women ourselves, we wanted to help Rick in his efforts to help women in need. We asked him to bring the event to Philadelphia, so we could help women locally. The Philadelphia “Fashion for a Cause” event was held on February 25th at Stratus Rooftop Lounge. The event was in honor of Kathryn Marie Robinson who passed away from cancer on December 4, 2015. Kathryn left behind three children and husband. Her husband, Michael, decided to donate the proceeds to other families in need. 100% of the proceeds were split between a local Philadelphia in need (who wishes to remain anonymous) and Nikki Powers, a mother battling cancer in NYC.

What took place at the event?

While Rick is a firefighter in NYC, his primary job is manager to teen pop star, Meredith O’Connor. To encourage guests to come out to support the cause, Meredith performed at the event. There was also be a fashion show featuring lines by top designers, Elizabeth Delgado of Elizabeth Delgado Desings, Bill McCall of Utopia Armoury, and Dartanya. Michelle Lee, of Michelle Lee Entertainment, was the event DJ and MC.

About The Event Producers

In order to organize this huge event between the two cities (Philadelphia and NYC), I brought together a group of women in the events industry who have the same passion for event production and love for Philadelphia as I do! In order to unite our group for this event (which we may bring to other cities), we created the Philadelphia Event Producers Facebook page. This way, we could encourage others to join us in supporting this amazing cause and share our updates from the event. As we take the event to other cities, our Facebook page also gives us the opportunity to promote our city of brotherly love.
