Hey guys! Today I’m bringing you a quick tip on how you can further your DJ career and/or grow your DJ business.
What’s today’s Quick Tip? Add more services! Why? When you have more to offer you are more valuable to potential clients – and more valuable to event planners and venue managers who refer you to potential clients.
Start small. A DJ I know starting adding custom DJ drops for clients and other DJs. Another DJ began to add personal mixes for clients to their packages. If you like working with lighting, you could start to add lighting packages.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is most event planners and clients like the convenience of getting numerous services in one place. Kind of like, going to one store where you can purchase clothes, food, jewelry and cleaning supplies without having to drive to four different places.
Ok. So I’m sure your next question is…”How to I know what services to add?” Think about your talents, interests, resources and most important – what services you think your clients (or club owner, venue manger, event planners) need.
What’s the new service I decided to add to my company? DJ & Drums. Why? Recently I’ve had a few clients say they like the unlimited music a DJ can offer, but love the sound of live music. Also, some clients wanted a band, yet it wasn’t in their budget. I also had a few event planners tell me they had a few clients looking for DJs who played with instruments. So I decided to team up with Nathan Barta of “Beats By Barta” to start offering our new service, “DJ & Drums”.
What’s the next step to adding a new service? You have to let people know you have it! So I decided, what better way to show people how much fun our DJ & Drums service is then to make a video?! So a few weeks ago we went to one of our favorite venues – The FUGE in Warminster, PA to film a music video to showcase our DJ and Drums. We’re still working on editing the final video before we put it out there. However, I’m giving you a SNEAK PEAK! I can’t wait to post the final version. The team had so much fun putting it together! Many thanks to The FUGE!!! For letting us film it there.
Bert’s Eye View and Rachel Conlan Photography took the video footage and photos. Nathan Barta was on Drums. Brody the Roady was on camera! And of course I was on the one’s and two’s LOL. (Really my Numark Mix Deck). If you like our video please don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to the SBS YouTube Channel! Thanks Guys! DeeJay Shelly.
