TOP 40/POP NEWS: Stone Temple Pilots Scott Weiland Has An Imposter Posing as Himself!!
Scott Weiland imposter, Jason Michael Hurley, was recently arrested for possessing methamphetamine and shoplifting razors, and he managed to he trick police into thinking he was Scott Weiland, the former lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. Alternative Nation is now reporting that Hurley apparently once sang for an STP tribute band who called themselves, Stone Tempered Pilots!
Hurley posted on his personal Facebook page about taking part in a Stone Temple Pilots tribute show at the Roxy in Hollywood. However, TMZ noted, that band may not have existed, however they have since found photos of Hurley performing live at a concert.
In another Facebook posting, Hurley detailed his various acquaintances with famous rock stars, including “Slash, Dave Navarro, Billy Idol, Courtney Love and more. The validity of his statement, of course, is unconfirmed, though Hurley claimed he’s no stranger at Ozzy Osbourne’s house, he talks cars with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Juliette Lewis kissed him at a show three years ago.”
When Hurley was arrested in late July, police issued a press release titled, “Celebrity Arrest” after he claimed he was none other than Scott Weiland. The story was then picked up by TMZ, and at that point the real Scott Weiland read it and put a post on Facebook to set the record straight: “I just got done reading something very interesting, a nice piece of fiction from TMZ, saying that I was in jail and had been for four [weeks],” he said in a video. “I’ve actually been touring, writing and recording my new album. Yeah, this is the studio we’re in right now. So all I have to say to our fans is whether you find it funny or interesting or whether you’re sad, don’t worry, don’t fret, it’s a lie. TMZ, you’ll be hearing from my attorneys.”
Police reiterated they had performed a “physical check” and said Weiland was “definitely” in their custody, however after performing an FBI fingerprint check, they eventually issued an apology.
The real Weiland was let go by Stone Temple Pilots in February 2013. Along with working on his new material in the studio, Weiland has been performing across the U.S. and Canada this summer.
