TOP 40/POP NEWS: Rihanna and Eminem Set to Perform At the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards!
Rolling Stone Magazine has announced that Eminem and Rihanna will perform their hit “The Monster” for the televised MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, April 13th. The artists performed their song “Love the Way You Lie” at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in 2010.
Since its release, “The Monster” has claimed top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Mainstream Top 40 charts. The pair is now preparing to embark on the “Monster Tour.” Rihanna and Eminem will appear “together at gigs in Los Angeles, New York City and Detroit on various dates in August.”
The team worked together on “Love the Way You Lie” for Eminem’s 2010 album Recovery, however, Eminem made clear that for The Marshall Mathers LP 2, this was not an attempt to create Eminem and Rihanna, Part Deux. Eminem told Rolling Stone it was “not necessarily a sequel, as much as it is a revisitation” to his previous works. “To me, it’s more about the vice, and it’s more about the nostalgia,” he said.

HIP HOP NEWS: Nas Performs with 100-Piece Orchestra in Washington D.C.!
Nas recently performed two sold out, historic shows at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Nas performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, and brought the house down by performing his entire Illmatic album, in celebration of the opus’ 20th year anniversary. With DJ Green Lantern, along with a full rhythm section, Nas cranked out other hit records like “One Mic,” “Made You Look,” “You’re Da Man” and “Hate Me Now.”
The crowd enjoyed the amazing evening that night.
At the end of the night, Nas said, “Its the end of the cassette tape (crowd laughs and moans). You can always turn it around. But this song here was inspired by Michael Jackson. If you notice on my (Illmatic) album cover was a kid with a little afro. I thought about it later and I was trying to channel Mike…with his afro. This one is from “Human Nature’ (from MJ’s coveted Thriller album).” The Queensbridge songwriter finished with “It Ain’t Hard To Tell.”
Towards the end of the night’s performance, The Nas, Green, the band and the 40-piece orchestra left the stage, however it didn’t last.
To the crowd’s surprise, Nas returned with just a DJ and The Rhythm section for an encore performance.
