ROCK “N” ROLL NEWS: New Led Zeppelin Remasters Coming This October!
It was just announced that on October 28th, Led Zeppelin will release two re-mastered titles from their catalog: Led Zeppelin IV and Houses Of The Holy.
Keeping in step with the remastered releases of Led Zeppelin I, II, and III back in June, these two new releases will be made available in six different formats: “Single CD, Deluxe Edition (2CD), Single LP (pressed on 180-gram vinyl), Deluxe Edition Vinyl (2LP), Digital Download and the Super Deluxe Boxed Set”.
“The entire Zeppelin catalog has been produced and remastered by Jimmy Page, who did quite the amount of press for the first three remasters, so we’ll see if he’ll have the same presence in the lead up to October 28th.”

TOP 40/POP NEWS: Oasis to Release Remastered version of their landmark album, “What’s the Story Morning Glory?”!
Oasis are still in the midst of releasing their Chasing the Sun reissue campaign and their newest release will be their 1995 smash (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, which will be released on September 30th via Big Brother Recordings.
Like the prior reissue of their debut album, Definitely, Maybe, the new version of Morning Glory? will come “packed with bonus material, including previously unheard demos of “She’s Electric” and “Rockin’ Chair.” The reissue will also include demos of “Some Might Say,” “Hey Now” and “Boneheads Bank Holiday” that were recorded by frequent producer Mark Coyle for the first time during a soundcheck at Club Quattro in Tokyo in September 1994. Along with a number of B-sides and previously unreleased tracks from the Morning Glory?-era, the new edition will feature live recordings from memorable Oasis shows at Knebworth House, Maine Road Stadium, Earls Court and Bath Pavilion.”
The remastered version of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? will be available in: “Digital download, special three-CD set, a 12-inch vinyl LP (with digital download code for the bonus material) and a deluxe box set packed with the original LP, a replica of the original 12-inch promo, a special edition CD, a 7-inch of an exclusive demo and new liner notes from rock critic Neil McCormick.”
The Chasing the Sun re-mastered series will continue after this release with the re-release of 1997’s Be Here Now. One former member of Oasis, has been a bit crabby about the whole campaign: “HOW CAN YOU REMASTER SOMETHING THAT’S ALREADY [BEEN] MASTERED,” tweeted a peeved Liam Gallagher ahead of the Definitely, Maybe reissue. “DONT BUY INTO IT. LET IT BE.”
Liam’s brother, Noel, seemed slightly more enthusiastic, telling Rolling Stone, “I’m proud of everything that we ever did. I mean, some songs are pretty shit, and there’s a couple of periods you’d rather forget, but I think on the whole… I think we made three great albums and four good ones, which is not bad out of eight. Kind of a 50 percent record. That’s pretty good, I think.”

HIP HOP NEWS: Beastie Boy Mike D Gives His Take on the Deaths of Tupac and Biggie Smalls!
About two decades after the feud that left both rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. dead, Mike D of the Beastie Boys is still trying to make sense of the tragedy. “It still boggles my mind,” he told Vanity Fair in the interview below. “It escalated so fast.”
Mike D praises Biggie Smalls’ talent, calling him a “seminal rapper,” and considered Tupac Shakur as somewhat of a mystery man, mentioning how Tupac had a background at a performing arts school and had come up through lighthearted party rappers Digital Underground. “Yeah, he was ‘Thug Life’ and everything, but he was more of an artistic kid,” the Beastie Boy said. “But basically he was so determined to be authentic, it ultimately killed him, which is a sad and tragic thing.”
The MC also recalled how strange he felt when he heard that Biggie Smalls had been shot. “It was super surreal,” he said. “It was like, ‘What? Biggie got shot?’ It just seemed like it couldn’t be true.”
