Eric Clapton has a brand new upcoming tribute album to the late blues legend, JJ Cale, The Breeze, and is helming two new tracks, “Train to Nowhere” and “Don’t Wait.”
On “Don’t Wait,” Clapton collaborates with John Mayer on both guitar and vocal duties, creating some dry, near-harmonies.
Clapton then collaborates with Mark Knopfler and Don White for a rendition of “Train to Nowhere.” Clapton also does a version of “Cajun Moon” and Cale’s classic, “Call Me the Breeze.”
The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale, is set for release on July 29th “and includes appearances by Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, Derek Trucks, Christine Lakeland, Albert Lee and more.”

ALTERNATIVE NEWS: Weezer Back With New Album to Be Released In September!
Weezer’s newest single, to be released on their next album their ninth titled, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, which come out September 30th is a new song titled, “Back to the Shack.” Its their first new song since 2010.
The song was made available on iTunes on Tuesday, July 22nd. And the band made its television debit of the song Wednesday, July 23rd, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Everything Will Be Alright in the End was actually produced by the Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. Ironically Ocasek was responsible for helping to produce the power-pop brilliance of 1994’s Blue Album and 2001’s Green Album.
According to a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the album’s new sound is a blend of the band’s first two albums: “If you took the Pinkerton band and then play all the other records – that’s what we sound like now,” he said. “Bombastic, loose, kind of booming. This record sounds like it’s going to have the tight structure of Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton.”
According to a press release, Everything is “organized thematically around three groups of songs” and “utilizes that sound from the band’s earliest days to tell new stories in 2014.”

EDM NEWS: Avicii Talks New Album!!
Last year, EDM star, Avicii, performed songs from his “True” album at Ultra Music Festival for the first time. Apparently, the album was criticized because its music was outside the world of ‘EDM’. It was compared more with country and folk music. The album was such a success that it became one of Spotify’s most streamed songs of all time.
“In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Avicii said that his new album will feature Jon Bon Jovi, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Wyclef Jean, Matisyahu and System of a Down’s singer Serj Tankian.”
Avicii’s new album is said to be a 70 track album which is a bit shocking, but according to Avicii, its “going to be a lot more song-oriented. True was an attempt at that, getting electronic music in a song format.”

TOP 40/POP NEWS: Whitney Houston’s Mom Claims New Lifetime Biopic of Whitney Has No Family Intimate Connection to Whitney!
In the new biopic, actress Angela Bassett is directing the film, and she had a chance to co-star with Houston on the successful film, “Waiting to Exhale”.
Though Bassett didn’t have any intimate close friendship-p with Houston, she says in a recent interview, “I think that I had an opportunity, of course, to appreciate and love her from afar and then to spend time with her in a working situation.”
According to Houston’s mom, Cissy Houston’s, in her statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight, “Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family’s objections.” She does not name Bassett by name but does remark that the people working on the film did not have intimate knowledge of Houston’s life:
“No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby. In the two years since Whitney’s death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn’t know her.”

(Common once sang “I got my SAG card, baby I’m an actor” on his song “Break My Heart” from 2007 and during a recent interview, Common spoke about once playing Green Lantern.
In 2008, Common revealed he was cast as Green Lantern in a movie titled, Justice League of America. Due to the Writers Guild of America going on strike, Warner Bros scrapped the movie, but Common reveals recently on The Breakfast Club that it was to have included a Latino Superman:
“I was the Green Lantern for a minute ’cause we were doing the movie Justice League. Yeah, I had the gig. We went down to Australia and I had the suit on and everything. [Laughs] I was ready, man. I was geeked, ’cause I was like at that time, this is 2008, I was like ‘there really ain’t Black super heroes out there.” It was a Latino brother too, he was playing Superman. At the time, we were like “man, Black and Latino kids are going to see us and be like I can be a superhero. If you think about it, a lot of the superheroes they seeing are only white.”
