ROCK “N” ROLL NEWS:
Rolling Stone recently premiered the new song, “American Dream Plan B,” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and the band has since shared two more tracks off their soon to be released album, Hypnotic Eye. The two tracks are, “U Get Me High,” which is a declaration of affection, and “Red River” has a melodic chorus and is about self-reflection.
Petty and Heartbreaker’s new album, Hypnotic Eye will be released July 29th and will be a followup to their blues rock-inspired effort Mojo released in 2010. The band has spent the past three years recording their new cd at Petty’s home studio in Malibu.
“I knew I wanted to do a rock & roll record,” Petty recently told Rolling Stone about Hypnotic Eye. “We hadn’t made a straight hard-rockin’ record, from beginning to end, in a long time.”
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will go on the road for a massive American arena tour, starting August 3rd in San Diego to help promote the new album.
Petty is also set to offer his fans a two-disc reissue of his 1994 solo album, Wildflowers, which may be released in time for Christmas. It will include 10 previously unreleased songs. “I never thought I’d be this busy at this point in my life,” he said. “I never expected to be at this point, doing stuff and figuring out how to get it to people. This band just grows and grows, and that’s an incredible gift.”

TOP 40/POP NEWS: Bruno Mars Performed in Concert With Opening Act Aloe Blacc This Past Friday!
Bruno Mars is a supremely talented musician and his acknowledged musical influences are James Brown, Michael Jackson, The Police, Jason Mraz and a lot of other noted hit makers. His flashy moves are brought with retro finesse, and he has since inspired comparisons to classic song-and-dance men.
He is a rare musician whose success has equaled his early promise. He has only released two albums, and yet Mars is now one of the best-selling singles artists of the digital era. Three of his singles have sold more than eight million copies.
Mars was originally christened with the name, Peter Gene Hernandez, and was born into a family of musicians. He began performing at a young age, and he “spent most of the 2000s hustling through various DJ and cover band gigs in Los Angeles before forming the production team Smeezingtons with producer Philip Lawrence and songwriter Ari Levine.”
