ROCK “N” ROLL NEWS: Don Henley Corrects Robert Plant on Reason for Eagles Reunion! Read below…
In a recent Rolling Stone magazine interview, Don Henley, of the classic rock band, The Eagles responded to criticism from Led Zeppelin singer, Robert Plant. For the past several years there have been rumors of a possible reunion by Led Zeppelin, and so far the only hold out putting one together has been lead singer, Robert Plant. Plant referenced the Eagles reunion in one of his recent interviews with Rolling Stone Magazine, and said The Eagles famously said when the band first broke up, the band said they would reunite, “when hell freezes over”. The band eventually did reunite, and Robert Plant said it was because the members of the band were “bored”, and had nothing better to do. In a brand new interview with Don Henley by Rolling Stone, Henley says he and his bandmates were far from bored, and said he in fact never gets bored. He said he and his band love what they do every night they perform, and added it is hard work being of an older age and still touring as much as they do. Here’s hoping this will inspire Robert Plant to go ahead and reunite his amazing band. The world would embrace a reunion by Led Zeppelin.

TOP 40/POP NEWS: Guns and Roses Singer Axl Roses Selected as Best Singer in Viral List of “World’s Greatest Singers”, and Gives His Own List of Top Favorite Singers!
The list in question claimed Axl had a range spanning “nearly seven octaves, with his lowest note allegedly appearing in the 2008 Chinese Democracy song “There Was a Time” and his highest in his cover of the Dead Boys’ “Ain’t It Fun,” which appeared on the group’s 1994 covers album “The Spaghetti Incident?”. He said that he found the recognition flattering and humbling, according to Spin, though he wouldn’t top his own list of the greatest singers.”
Axl Rose told Spin magazine, “If I had to say who I thought the best singers were, I’d say first that I don’t know there’s a definitive answer as in my opinion it’s subjective, and second that my focus is primarily rock singers.” “That said, I enjoy Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, [Nazareth singer] Dan McCafferty, Janis Joplin, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Roger Daltrey, Don Henley, [Electric Light Orchestra frontman] Jeff Lynne, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, [jazz singer] Jimmy Scott, Etta James, Fiona Apple, [Pretenders frontwoman] Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and a ton of others (predominantly Seventies rock singers) and would rather hear any of them anytime rather than me!”
Currently, Guns N’ Roses are doing a 12-date residency at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Recently, guitarist Richard Fortus told The Associated Press the current line up of Guns and Roses were, “working on stuff,” adding that he hoped the band would have new music “in the next year.”

ALTERNATIVE NEWS: Alternative Country Kings The Jayhawks Release Last Three of Their Cds in Their Catalogue to Complete Their Reissues!
For those who may have forgotten, the Jayhawks were an alternative/country band who hailed from Minneapolis, and pioneered their unique sound while entering the music scene in the mid-1980’s. They had “a soaring combination of folksy harmonies and power-pop melodies.” The band has gone on to take on the status of being a major influence in music, as well as being one of the best bands of their generation.
The band has been going through a re-mastering of their entire catalogue, and now it will be completed on July 1st with the release of expanded versions of 1997’s SOUND OF LIES, 2000’s SMILE and 2003’s RAINY DAY MUSIC. All three releases will contain “bonus tracks, new liner notes and expanded booklets. The albums also chronicle the band’s evolution into crunchier rock, purer pop and a sort of twangy, psychedelic vibe before coming full-circle with a spare country-rock sound.”
“The Jayhawks formed in 1985 when Gary Louris saw his future song writing partner, Mark Olson, perform in the decidedly small crowd at the first show Olson did with bassist Marc Perlman and Norm Rogers their very first drummer. A self-titled album was released on a local indie label and Minneapolis’ Twin/Tone released some of the band’s demos as “Blue Earth” in 1989. Legend has it that producer George Drakoulias (Black Crowes) heard the music in the background during a phone call to the label; Drakoulias eventually signed the band to Rick Rubin’s Def American records and produced “Hollywood Town Hall” (1992) and “Tomorrow The Green Grass” (1995), making the Jayhawks staples on the then-emerging adult-alternative radio format.”
Touring in support of these three new releases will be “the basic lineup from the band’s 1997 shows — Louris, Perlman, O’Reagan, Grotberg and Kraig Johnson. Much of July and part of August will be spent on a mix of headlining and festival dates in Europe, followed by a fall tour of the U.S. and Canada. Confirmed dates follow; for a current list of shows go to www.jayhawksofficial.com.”
