TOP 40/POP NEWS: Bruno Mars Takes a Stand on the Ellen DeGeneres Show!
Bruno Mars appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show, which aired February 10th, and took a stand against all the naysayers and critics who said he was not worthy and was not a big enough name to do and be able to successfully pull off the halftime show at the SuperBowl. Most people would agree Mars did an incredible job at entertaining the millions of people who watched the Super Bowl, but the 28-year-old singer still received a fair amount of backlash after his performance at the big game.
Ellen said how the New York Times criticized the NFL’s choice of Bruno Mars as the half time show entertainment in an article. “What they say?” Bruno interjected.
“They said he wasn’t a star because he wasn’t in the tabloids and he doesn’t have a fragrance…He’s not ready and it’s too big for him and he couldn’t do it and he pulled it off I think beyond what anybody…” Ellen said before Bruno fired back at his critics, and proceeded to give an inspirational speech to the audience about pursuing your dreams after slamming critics who claimed he didn’t have enough star power for the Super Bowl stage.
“Listen. Any young, aspiring musicians out there, if music is what you want to do, if music is what you love and your passion – It doesn’t take a fragrance, it’s not about the tabloids, it’s about you putting in the work, practicing every day, practicing your vocals, practicing your instrument, practicing songwriting,” he said. “Hopefully one day you write the song the whole world wants to get down to –and I promise you, I promise you one day you’re going to have your moment to shine and you’re going to have a lot of people saying that you can’t do it and you’re not good enough. But I promise you, if you go out there and sing and you put your heart and soul into it and you follow your dream, one day you’re going to be sitting next to Ellen DeGeneres, talking about how you broke records and rocked the Super Bowl. Stand up America!”

ALTERNATIVE NEWS: Nirvana to be Inducted into the Rock “n” Roll Hall of Fame!
The kings of alternative rock from the 1990’s, Nirvana, were nominated to be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year and were selected. When the ceremony takes place the former surviving band members, and their significant others, and most notably, former drummer and now Foo Fighter, Dave Grohl and Kurt Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, will put aside their differences for one night to celebrate their group’s achievement and legacy in the history of Rock “n” Roll.
Access Hollywood asked Courtney Love about her feud with with former Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl. Love replied, “We’re going to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I think we’re all sitting at the same table.” Love added, while it will be awkward, she’ll say hello to Grohl, who has had a public war of words for years between them over the rights and use of, Nirvana’s music.
In the interview, Love also discusses her new Youtube channel/reality show, her battles with sobriety and her relationship with 21-year-old daughter Frances Bean. Love was asked who or what was to blame for their past public fight, Love immediately replied, “She has a trust fund. And trust funds attract lawyers. And lawyers attract problems. And that’s just the reality.”
Kudos to Nirvana for finally achieving their place tine Rock “n” Roll Hall of Fame, and to Courtney Love and Dave Grohl for finally setting aside their differences so they could honor their band and their late friend and husband Kurt Cobain!

HIP HOP NEWS: NFL Football Player for the Kansas City Chiefs begins Rap Career.
There’s a transition that’s hard for professional athletes, going from athlete to artist. Shaquille O’Neil tried it with the Fu-Schnikins and had moderate success, yet for Kansas City Chief outside linebacker Tamba Hali, a childhood passion for music has only intensified as he got older.
According to Tamba, “I’ve always been into music. I sang in the choir, I played the drums; it’s always been a passion of mine, I just happened to be kind of good at football and got drafted. (Laughs) I wasn’t turning down millions. I have a well-paying job and love what I do, but if I hadn’t of been drafted I probably would have chosen music.
Tamba owns Relumae Records which includes artists StarrZ and Gillie Da Kid. According to Tamba, Gillie is currently shooting a video for his “Ass Like That” single and has an album dropping April 7 while StarrZ is pushing his “Live Forever Die Dope” project. Tamba says, “Not only am I an artist myself, I’m also a label head so it’s up to me to put these kids on the forefront.”
Tamba adds, “I can do it while I’m still in league. I create songs here and there; I just can’t put out a full LP or tour because of my conflicting schedule with the team. I’m more of a lyricist, a backpack rapper. I’ve been into music since I was kid, leaving the league won’t change that. I’m still going to be heavily involved in music in some aspect.
As far as what artists inspired him growing up he had this to say, “I grew up listening to Biggie, Pac, Jay Z, Nas etc. I’m not searching for people to work with me, but if they want to I’m all for it. Right now I’m focused on collaborating with one of my own; Gillie or StarrZ.
