This is “The Love List” by our female wedding DJ, DeeJay Shelly & Wedding Photographer Christine Angeline! Combined we have over 30 years experience in the wedding industry. Why are we reviewing Catering By Design and The College?

Since CBD is the exclusive caterer to The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, we wanted to give you the scoop on them as well. When a catering company is exclusive to a venue, it not only means they’ll serve your guests dinner, they also help to coordinate your event. When you hear the word “exclusive” you may think, “So, we can’t hire anyone else?” Well trust us. Once you have a taste, you’ll know why their venue list is three pages long! You won’t want anyone else touching your cuisine!

What we love…

1) Their short ribs!

2) The staff!

3) Their presentation! “Garnish designs can be based off a mood, color, theme, or what nature has to offer, but it will always have an undertone of thoughtfulness, romance and whimsy”.

Summary: You seriously won’t know what you love more, their inspiring dishes or their team! Everyone we’ve met from CBD is so personal, friendly and accomodating! You can rest assured you and your guests will be well taken care of on the day of your event. As far as their cuisine, it’s truly a “feast for the senses”. Your eyes will think it’s a work of art, the smell will fill you with happy thoughts, your mouth will water and your stomach will thank you! We’ve both tried their dishes on numerous occasions. What we LOVE:

1) Fabulous Scenic Herbal Garden blooms spring through fall!

2) The Photo ops!

3) It’s museum is world renowned for its awe-inspiring collection of anatomical specimens, medical instruments, photographs, and drawings. (The museum can be closed or opened during events. The museum is one part of the building and all specimens and skulls are contained in the museum).

Outside Ceremony: YES! In the gorgeous garden! You won’t believe you found this in center city!

Staff & Service: Extremely Friendly & Fun!

Parking: Parking garage around the corner (2  minute walk).

Hotels Close By: Yes.

Bathrooms: The bathrooms are only for museum visitors, or event visitors.

Christine Angeline’s Summary:

Do you love historic buildings? The building for The College of Physicians was constructed in 1908 and is the oldest medical society in the country! Each room at The College of Physicians is worth spending a significant amount of time admiring. Luckily the layout allows for easy flow from one room to the next creating an amazing experience walking through rooms with striking stately architecture. There are an abundance of opportunities for photographs in this space each and every direction you turn!

DeeJay Shelly’s Summary:

Did we say photo ops??? One thing is certain! You won’t be at a loss for places to take pictures! You and your guests are “greeted by the stunning Marble Rotunda…Accenting the rotunda is the grand staircase”. Then, there’s the “floor to ceiling mahogany carved mantelpiece and grand clock”. While you can’t use the the “period dais” as your head table (I already asked!), you and your bridal party can take pictures sitting on your “throne”-SUPER COOL! Yet, even though this all sounds exquisite, you may not be able to leave the garden! You won’t believe this “tranquil setting” exists in center city.

When we review a venue, the number one thing we look for is the ability to hold everything at one place, yet not feeling like you and your guests are “stuck” in one location. With “eight individually unique spaces” we definitely found this to be true at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia (The Mütter Museum). For more information you can visit cbdevents.com.
