TOP 40/POP NEWS: Ringo Says Paul is on the Mend and is Preparing to Rock!!
After hearing his former Beatle bandmate, Paul McCartney had come down with a viral infection forcing him to postpone some dates on his tour, Paul’s pal Ringo Starr reached out to his friend to see how he is doing. Ringo says, “I spoke to him actually while he was in hospital.” “Because not knowing the time, I just sort of dialed and – ‘Hello?’ And he picked up, and we said hi, and he said he’s doing OK, that he was still in hospital. Now he’s out and getting fit and he’s getting ready to rock.”
“He’s doing good,” Starr continued. “I text him, and he texts me back. And he was actually out the night before with Barbara, my wife, and Joe Walsh and Marjorie, [Walsh’s wife and Barbara’s] sister, and Nancy [Shevell, McCartney’s wife]. They were all like, dinner out, so they all say he’s doing good.”
Due to Paul’s tour postponement, he will likely resume his U.S. tour in early July and will be set to play his June U.S. dates next October.

ROCK “N” ROLL NEWS: All Members of Genesis to Reunite for New BBC Documentary!
The next best thing to an actual reunion of all the original members of the English rock band, Genesis, (Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford) is coming together in a new feature-length BBC documentary, Genesis: Together and Apart. No official air date has been announced.
The project – which features new and rare footage – traces the band’s evolution from their early days to their transitional period, which began after Peter Gabriel’s leaving the band in 1975, with Phil Collins taking over as frontman, building up to their commercial success with major hit songs in the Eighties. All five members of Genesis have even appeared together in a press photo for the new documentary– the first time since a 1998 event for their first box set.
Ten years ago the band considered doing a full length reunion on tour, but Peter Gabriel changed his mind. “It was growing into this bigger thing, and I had all these other ideas that I wanted to do, and I could feel the suction of the black hole,” Gabriel told Rolling Stone in 2011. “I get on pretty well with everybody – it wasn’t personal issues – I just didn’t want to lose that sort of light-footedness that I enjoy now. . . You know, we had a great run. They did way better after I left anyway. So I don’t think anyone has anything to complain about.”
While Collins has been in a state of semi-retirement in recent years, he’s changed his tune over the last few months – even hinting vaguely at the chances of another Genesis tour. “I have started thinking about doing new stuff,” he recently told the press. “[Maybe playing] some shows again, even with Genesis. Everything is possible. We could tour in Australia and South America. We haven’t been there yet.”
Meanwhile, Gabriel maintains that his taking part in any musical reunion would be unlikely, though his stance is, “never say never.” “It really didn’t happen last time,” he told Rolling Stone in April. “I think there’s a small chance, but I don’t think it’s very high.”

ALTERNATIVE NEWS: Incubus Working on New Music!!
Incubus last released their album, If Not Now, When? back in 2011, and since then they have been quietly working on new music, according to Incubus guitarist, Mike Einziger.
Einziger recently revealed he and frontman Brandon Boyd have “locked themselves in a room” for “like little bits here and there,” adding that it’s been a slow process due to the hectic schedules of the he and the other band members.
“Me and Brandon have been scheming the last couple of weeks,” Einziger told Radio.com. “There’s definitely going to be new music. It probably won’t happen until next year but it’s happening.”
“You know everybody’s got a lot of things going on but we’re slowly bringing out focus back to the band and everybody’s excited about it because we’ve had enough time away from it to where it’s exciting for everyone. There’s definitely some really great stuff coming.”

HIP HOP NEWS: Brand New N.W.A. Biopic In the Works to be Titled, “Straight out of Compton”!
It was announced over a week ago that one of rapper Ice Cube’s sons was selected to portray him in a brand new N.W.A. biopic, “Straight Outta Compton.”
Actor, Jason Mitchell, will play Eazy-E, and Marcus Callendar will play Dr. Dre, according to allhiphop.com.
Last week, it was reported that Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr. is slated to play Ice Cube in Straight Outta Compton.
Universal Studio has yet to confirm the Cube casting, however, the site says several people close to the project have confirmed it to The Wrap.
Last February, Ice Cube was interviewed by The Guardian. And the famous rapper confirmed rumors he wants his son, O’Shea, to play him in the movie.
“Yes. I’ve been trying to get that pushed along,” Ice Cube said at the time. “Just wanna make sure that he’s the best man for the job.”

EDM NEWS: Skrillex to Collaborate with Usher and Diplo!!
Ed Sheeran recently updated his Instagram with a rather unusual picture of him joining alongside Usher, Skrillex and Diplo in the studio together.
Last month, Ed Sheeran revealed in an interview with BBC Radio 1 that he wanted to work with Usher. “It was quite random. I met him once before, but never enough to be like, ‘Yo, what’s up man?’ but he went over to me with his phone and he’s like, ‘Yo, check it out’ and he’d downloaded ‘Sing’,” Sheeran said.
